Matches, Matches, Matches

It has been a busy few weeks so I apologize for the late post. After our Glencoe match we have been able to have 5 more matches. This brings our season total to 6 matches played and we've had 6 official practices. Despite only having 6 official practices the guys have done a fantastic job competing in each match. Since our first match at Glencoe here are our match results:

  1. Won vs. Forest Grove 7-1

  2. Won @ Tigard 7-1

  3. Lost vs. Tualatin 6-2

  4. Won vs. Hillsboro 7-1

  5. Won @ Century 8-0

The Tualatin match was a tough one but the guys competed very hard. We have quite a few new guys on our varsity squad who are playing varsity matches for the first time and they competed very well against a talented and deep Tualatin team who returned all 12 starters from their 10-0 League championship team last year. Jesse and Alex did a great job of winning tough singles matches, while Nathan (4 singles), Marshall/Cody (3 doubles), and Reza/Brendon (4 doubles) all lost close matches in 3 sets. Marshall and Cody played especially well against a team that played 2 doubles for Tualatin last season and went 10-0 on the season. A great overall effort from the guys. It's difficult to lose a close match to a rival team but the guys have come back strong the last 2 matches with big wins over Hillsboro 7-1, and at Century yesterday 8-0.

Currently we are 4-2 on the season, all of those matches coming in Pacific Conference play. Today we travel to Newberg to complete the first half of our regular season of conference play. They are well coached, have good athletes, and always compete hard so it should be a good, fun match. We would love to see you make it out there for our match. It should be some good tennis and the Newberg parents will be hosting a BBQ for our players and parents. Should be a fun time. I hope to see you out there at 4!

Thanks for the great parental support you have been showing at all of our matches. The guys appreciate it and play well as a result. Take care and let's go get the Tigers today!
