Last Saturday (4/23) was a smashing success. We hosted the first annual Grizzly Invitational Tournament. This was a jamboree-based event with 2 non-league opponents. The participants were McMinnville, Beaverton, and Clackamas. All 3 teams played 2 total matches, and the winner of the most matches won the tournament.
This was a fun-filled day of great tennis, food (thanks to our devoted parents who ran the bbq and food tent for all players and coaches from all 3 teams all day!), and great weather. The sun was out and the temp was in the low 70s!
Overall, our guys played a fantastic set of matches, as we beat 2 quality opponents by decisive scores. As a result, we won our tournament! I told the guys that they played fantastic matches. They played with great energy, confidence, and skill today and beat 2 very good teams. If the guys continue to play at this level and show improvement with each match, we will do very well as a team during the rest of our league season, and we will have a great shot at repeating as district tournament champions. Overall, I couldn't be prouder of the way the guys competed this weekend!
Below are the final statistics for the tournament:
Scores:
McMinnville 7, Beaverton 1
Clackamas 5, Beaverton 3
McMinnville 7, Clackamas 1
Grizzly Invitational Final Standings:
1. McMinnville 2-0
2. Clackamas 1-1
3. Beaverton 0-2
I hope to post some pictures of the event very soon!!!!
