On Monday we hosted Hillsboro and it was a nice clear day for tennis. Before the matches began we held a plaque dedication ceremony for former MHS Coach Chuck Biederman. Coach Biederman led the program for 28 years and coached in some capacity between 1971-2002. During that time he won 11 league titles, sent 48 players to state, and amassed a 290-105 record. As part of the ceremony former MHS coach Casey Rich shared a few kind words, and former MHS Athletic Director Sean Burke, along with current MHS AD Ben Patterson were present. Coach Biederman then said a few words about the Cowls Courts and we proceeded to introduce our line-ups.
Coaches discussing the match during warm-ups. |
The guys did a great job competing in different spots again today (as I decided to mix it up again) and won the match 8-0 over the visiting Spartans. Coach Biederman was on hand today to help me coach as an "honorary coach" during the match. He had his clipboard and court diagram out there and helped Adam and Brendon briefly while they were on their way to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 Doubles.

Yesterday we played at Newberg and were down 2-4 when the rains came. Not sure about when the reschedule will be but I will post information soon.
Today we're off to Pacific University to make up our "home match" with Forest Grove. They have indoor courts so we will get the match in. Match starts at 4pm. Hope to see you up there.
Go Grizz!
