Regular Season Wraps-Up

We wrapped up our regular, Pacific Conference Season recently with three great wins. We beat Tigard 7-1 at home, Hillsboro 8-0 on the road, and won an incredible 5-3 match under the lights at home vs. Newberg.

A special thanks to all the Worth and Kiff family for supplying BBQ for both squads, parents and coaches at that final match. Going into the final 2 matches tied at 3-3, Casey and Nathan won close 2-set matches to seal the deal for us over a very athletic, well-coached Newberg team. We finish our regular season in 2nd place for the second-consecutive season. Although many of the senior players are somewhat disappointed that we didn't win the regular season league championship, I am very proud of the way our players have competed all season and the sportsmanship they displayed in each match.

This is how the final league standings ended up:

1. Tualatin 14-0
2. McMinnville 11-3
3. Glencoe 9-5
4. Newberg 9-5
5. Hillsboro 5-9
6. Tigard 4-10
7. Forest Grove 4-10
8. Century 0-14

Like I said earlier, I am very proud of our accomplishments so far this season. As a reward to our guys, we were able to schedule another match last Thursday against Dallas. In this match I put many singles players in doubles and doubles players in singles. Some senior doubles players had never played a singles match in their 4 year high school career, so I thought it would be fun for them to play singles. The guys stepped up in their new roles, and gave a great effort as we won the match 8-0 over an athletic Dallas team. It was a lot of fun to watch for both myself and our players, their parents, and our fans.

Here are the scores:
